The only difference between the three tiers is the monthly data allowance — route coverage, device count, clients and the refund policy are identical. Estimate your real monthly usage and pick a tier accordingly; there's no need to buy a bigger one in advance just in case, since upgrading mid-cycle only costs the price difference.
Suited to a routine built around research, email and web browsing, with room for the occasional episode or two. If you regularly stream HD video for long stretches or move large files, go straight to the next tier. Data resets monthly on your activation date, so activating mid-month wastes nothing.

Top up a pack whenever you hit a heavy travel month or a project that needs extra capacity, and light months won't waste anything you haven't used.
Data packs use the full 120+ countries / 240+ routes as well, with unlimited simultaneous devices and exactly the same clients and subscription import process as monthly plans. Accounts that already have a monthly plan can buy a data pack separately — the two are billed independently.
Data packs suit a few situations: usage that isn't steady, with some months barely touched and others heavy; a backup route that can step in when your main plan runs low; or a short-term need such as a brief business trip or temporary cross-border work.
One thing to note: a data pack doesn't expire with time, but it does end when the data runs out. If your monthly usage is fairly steady, a monthly plan is the more effortless option — no need to keep an eye on the remaining balance. The two models can be combined to suit your own rhythm.

Resets monthly on your activation date, not on the 1st of the calendar month. For example, activate on 8/12 and the next reset lands on 9/12 — the same day of the month, one month later. A month boundary never clears your data early, so starting mid-month costs you nothing and there is no reason to wait for the start of the next month to buy.
The upgrade difference is prorated across your remaining days, so there's no need to buy a second plan. Choose the higher tier in the user panel to complete the upgrade; data already used in the current cycle isn't lost, and you continue on the new tier's allowance.
No. Data packs are valid until used and never expire — the data stays in your account after purchase. They don't reset monthly and don't lapse over time; when and how much you use is entirely up to you.
